Hi,
I have a JLC, Geophysic, E168, P478/BWSbr from 1958.

The crystal has a few marks on it from use, and I understand the scratches could be removed, but does anyone know the correct crystal part number for the E168 or if anyone has one please PM me as I would prefer to have a new correct crystal for the watch.

To my knowledge, JLC crystals from the 1950’s are more or less generic. No symbols or logos molded into the plastic like Omega, Eterna or Universal.

If you really want to replace the crystal, it would be best to have a watchmaker measure the dimensions and order the proper size.

JLC may have branded crystals, but they will only sell them as part of a full service which might run you $1,500 plus the cost of the crystal.

My recommendation would be to spend $10 on some Polywatch and try to buff it out yourself first.

The results might surprise you. You can always replace the crystal if you are not happy.

I second the advice already given.
Also, as an FYI the original crystal for this model would of had lume dots on the inside of the crystal itself (which is why the hands are lumed but there is no lume on the dial) and are virtually impossible to find.

Do you have a picture of a Geophysic with the original crystal?

Sure. Will add a clearer one if I find it.
Sadly watches are not mine.

Yes, although be warned there are rarely any with their original dots... a lot of them had dots added in by dealers and marketed as original. Get the right crystal and enjoy.

PS mine says hi

Learned something new today.

Given that those lume dots are probably radium, any contemporary originals were probably destroyed long ago.
