I'd love to find a JLC Futurematic in stainless steel. I might settle for gold, but I would especially prefer a European model... the watch would be nice, too!
Well, I've been through all of those various international models, now (in my dreams, at least ) and I'm still looking for the one known as 'Futurematic'. (sounds like the name of a female agent in a 007 movie, doesn't it?)
The JLC Futurematic is a very good choice indeed. A very cool watch. The European version a somewhat harder to come by though. Especially in very good condition
I believe a US market LeCoultre Futurematic in a steel case is rarer than a similar Jaeger-LeCoultre. Nothing like starting at the top. Good luck with the search. gatorcpa
Did find a beauty of a 10k gf that I like quite a lot! I'd still love to find that rare one in SS, though...
The Jaeger Lecoultre Futurematic is bigger than the American cased ones. The European Jaeger Lecoultre is 37 m.m. and the American Lecoultre is 34 m.m.I have never actually seen a steel American Lecoultre except for pictures 'online. The porthole 817 only 1500 were produced and were used in both European Jaeger Lecoultre and the American Lecoultre The power reserve dial in the American Lecoultre is red withe European counterpart was black.. Not many were cased in stainless steel. Most Futurematics have the 497 movement. The most rare Futurematic movement is the 837 with only 500 produced. Here is a picture of the my two stainless steel European Futurematics !
Ah, those are beautiful ... Who needs two? Let me know when you are ready to release either one... Dibs!!
You may find a 497 SS (rare), but you may never find the 817 SS. The European 817 is VERY rare! ! Took me many years to find one, and at the time it was over 4k !
