Hello everyone,

Up for sale is an IWC automatic watch with calibre 853, from (presumably) the 1960s. This calibre was introduced in 1958 and was also used in the early Ingenieur models. It features the Pellaton winding system, 21 jewels and beats at 19800 A/h.

The watch measures 36mm in diameter (without crown), has 18mm lug width and is about 44mm lug-to-lug -- quite large for the era and nice dressy size for today.

The beautifully shaped case is in decent shape. While it seems to have been polished at some point, this has not been overdone - still has nice edges and curves.Scuffs and superficial scratches throughout, consistent with its age and wear.

The original dial has a yellow, warm patina with soft blemishes throughout the dial. The dial has never been refinished or otherwise tampered with. The hour indices are applied baton markers, while the minute markers are applied dots. The dial is signed, "International Watch Co, Schaffhausen, Automatic, Swiss".

This watch also still has its original crown with IWC fish logo.

The watch fully works, the movement loses approx 20 seconds per day and a service (at least cleaning/oiling) is recommended if the watch will be worn regularly. I lack the tool to open the caseback and I'm apprehensive to try to open it with anything else for fear of damaging it, so I can't provide photos of movement and caseback. However, if this watch is not exactly what I say it is, you may return it for a full refund!

I don't have any references on here (yet), but I am happy to provide them from other sources or any other verification you may require!
