    IWC Fliegeruhr Chronograph

I'm trying to figure out what reference this watch is and what movement is in the watch.

It could be this - or a closely related model. I believe that the "probus scafusia" crowns were introduced sometime around 2005ish. Prior to that they had a stylised fish shape, however, the older fish crowns would appear to be routinely swapped swapped out during IWC servicing.

If any of the above is wrong, blame my Google-fu :)

I'm treating this as a fake IWC IW371701

I just googled the serial number and it's associated with fakes.

The guy who gave it to me was convinced it was real. He's having a talk with the guy he bought it from.

They didn't even make the effort to engrave the brand name on the rotor.

    Fake v real

This is the story as best I've been able to put it together. The story shows the Insidious problem with fake watches in the Stream of Commerce.

The original buyer bought it from a pawn shop thinking it was real.

He sold it to his friend as a real IWC 3717 01.

His friend gave it to me and I started doing some research.

The movement pictures look wrong and when I Googled the serial number it came up as a known fake. The serial number is 3183293

The original buyer is now refusing to make it right with his friend from grade school who is left holding the bag.

The original buyer asked that we take it to a local watchmaker who we all know mutually. Unbeknownst to the original buyer, on the first day that I received this watch I sent the movement photos to him by Facebook messenger and he called this as a fake.

We did that today and the watchmaker who called this is a fake the first day I got it, pulled the back off and again confirmed that it was a fake.

The original buyers demanding that his friend go to the trouble to get a written statement that the watch is a fake.

He won't do it himself because he's too busy and he works. I suppose nobody else works and I suppose none of us took time off from our jobs to go to visit the watchmaker and then to stop off at zatox and compare this to a real IWC.

Also, the 6 marker is a little off center. We noticed this at Zadoks today.
