Opinions on this one? It’s supposed to be from 1953, Swiss printed at the bottom, it looks ok and good printing to me but I find these very hard to judge.

I’d like to see the inside, but the outside looks good to me.

I suspect that the dial was very dirty at one time and was cleaned. I can see traces of corrosion or dirt around the markers.

It may be perspective / lens crystal distortion……but the dual ‘12’ Markers…… Look off / mis-shapen

The single ‘minute’ dots are also variable, in application

I think it is a historic redial ……or the dial ‘touched up’ after a rigorous clean

Lugs also look quite polished. Should look more like this:

That’s what I thought - but they show signs of what apper to be rust?

That’s why I’m concerned about what kind of ugliness used to be on that dial.

I think it’s residue of something.

There is definitely something on the markers but it’s not very visible in person and it looks very good overall so here is my first entry of 2018.

The case is beautiful and sharp. I don’t think anything has been polished. Used, sure, but not polished. I need a decent buckle now.

Thanks for all the comments. I’ll take macro pictures of the markers in the next few days.

I doubt that dial is original. Good looking watch though and the movement if it’s ok may be worth a buck.

It’s really very very difficult to get an non-restored vintage IWC ( pre 70’s). And the materials used degraded quite a bit so to get something like this from the 50’s without even a bit of yellowing on the dial is.... suspect.

I admit I don’t have much more technical feedback but I bought three of these and all three ended out being duds... i’ve Given up on the vintage IWC scores.

Finally managed to take macro pictures of the markers. There is some corrosion and what could be glue in some of them, but not all. Does it look like this was damaged and cleaned or just degradation of the thin gold?

OK. I made a quick macro of one of the markers.

    00BA8646-48E9-4862-AB7A-398F62D77AF6.jpeg

So it looks like the dial might have been cleaned and lacquer was not applied evenly and/or is deteriorating. It also could be that they were removed at one point and reglued.

In any case, I see no rust there.

Ive seen glue "halos" like that before on a dial, I asked a Rolex expert about it who said it was commonly seen on matte dial Rolex
