IWC 3750 vs. Blancpain 2685 - Precious metal vs. in-house movement

Hello everyone,

I am looking at two perpetual calendar chronographs. The IWC 3750 in full gold and the Blancpain 2685 in stainless steel. Both are right around the 20k mark. The 3750 houses a modified 7750 Valjoux whereas the BP 2685 houses an F585 based on a Frédéric Piguet.

Would you opt for the precious metal or stainless steel with a superior brand name?

I think you’d end up wearing the Blancpain more often. I also think you can find better prices by shopping around. For me personally I think the perpetual calendars are a cool innovation but my eyes suck now and I also wouldn’t want to have to reset everything if it’s not on a winder.

Thanks to Kurt Klaus, setting these are a breeze - the IWC is, anyhow. 😉

The aesthetics of these are very different from one another. The Blancpain looks like it probably has a much bigger case. I guess you are primarily after the functionality of the perpetual calendar and overall aesthetics don’t really matter?
