路A few weeks back, my friend Seth got in touch to say that one of his fellow craftspeople, Poppy, was looking for a watch to give her husband as a 30th Birthday gift, specifically wanted to buy him and Omega and could do with a little advice.
We exchanged a couple of emails and talked on the phone, and from what she told me about Caleb, I got the impression that a Speedmaster might be the kind of thing he would like.
Poppy in the meantime had called into an AD, and been underwhelmed and oversold by a salesperson trying to shift some co-axial devilles, seen the new Moonwatch and been disappointed to learn that it was way beyond her budget.
However - A few weeks before I'd spotted that a fellow forum member (Mike - @AlphaToOmega) had a new 1861 Speedmaster for sale - and after a couple of messages was very happy to learn that a) he still had it, and that b) it was almost in Poppys's price range, and c) that he might be up for a bit of a deal.
Someone was about to get a very very nice 30th Birthday present - and I was very very happy to connect two nice people together.
Caleb is in his words "over the moon" (I think we can let him have that one?)
Big thanks to Mike for being a standup guy, and congrats to Poppy and Caleb on having a Speedmaster in the house. 馃榾
