Did not know it was El Primero day but I am not difficult. I will substitute the pre selected watch (Explorer II, white) for this - in honour of the day.
What can you tell me about this bracelet? It seems to be identical to the "Maglia Milanese" bracelets that Heuer used, in the early 1970s, for the 18 karat gold Carreras. And can you tell me the "basics" on the beautiful watch, as well? And, of course, happy January 10th / El Primero day to everyone!! Jeff
Friend Gavin, I agree with your celebratory instincts wholeheartedly, but the birthday justifies a bit more pomp and circumstance, don't you think? On this day in 1969, the legendary Primero was introduced to the world. At the age of forty-five, El Primero continues to run strong! This year, we celebrate a new contribution to El Primero history - Nicola’s discovery of the earliest known press notice of El Primero http://omegaforums.net/threads/first-automatic-chrono-zenith-el-primero-cal-3019.9235/ In honor of the discovery, the birthday, and the longevity of the movement, models with the iconic three-color design congregate to celebrate From oldest to youngest, these are 1969 A 386 – the jewel in the crown, the reference to have if you’re going to have just one 1971 A 3817 – a slightly different take in the iconic angled tonneau case. Many thanks to Abel for his expert rehabilitation of mine after many years in an overpolished mess of a case – something very substantial for me to celebrate this year. 2009 New Vintage 1969 – Thierry Nataf’s resurrection of the design – something he got oh so right. How could it have gone forty years without a reprise? 2011 Striking 10th – the watch that brought the manufacture back from the brink with panache! Looks like A386 galore. The older siblings and cousin were not too happy that the youngest of the pack get to celebrate the day. Had to gather then to join in the fiesta.
Did they naturally fade to those colors? I know! 4? 4??? Totally unfair! You should sell me one really cheap to avoid fines & penalties. Just kidding! …. sort of.
No Preer pressure or nepotism, they were the first to introduce an automatic chronograph and it's worth celebrating, even if I do not have an El Primero but a Captain Chronometre /Anders
