Apollo 15 (July 26 – August 7, 1971) was the ninth crewed mission in the United States' Apollo program and the fourth to land on the Moon. It was the first J mission, with a longer stay on the Moon and a greater focus on science than earlier landings. Apollo 15 saw the first use of the Lunar Roving Vehicle.

And still my favorite candid astronaut picture with their piece from my collection.

Dave Scott is still a steely-eyed missile man...

Everybody knows about the Roman numeral XV hidden in the crater shadows, right? Not just for this watch, but the actual mission patch...YaY!

The Apollo 15 celebration continues with the first ever deep space EVA conducted by Al Worden on August 5, 1971.

This is one on my favorite collection pictures and the first time we created a picture with Photoshop for a piece.

During the first deep space EVA Al Worden wore Dave Scott's Moon EVA glove. The glove in the image is Scott's EVA glove taken from the Air and Space museum image collection and the Earth in the images was taken by Apollo 15 on their journey home.

I like this picture very much of Dave Scott, although from the earlier 9 mission, opening the door to infinity. They should have kept the cool red helmets !

I remeber Apollo 15 because of the Bulova chronograph, although Scott's Speedmaster hesalite problem was not documented in the science report.
During Apollo 16, Charlie Duke had the same hesalite failure and this incident was described in detail in the Apollo 16 scientific mission report 😉

Cool watch as well, stowaway maybe 😉 but i should get a Bulova Lunar Pilot to join the Speedmaster now they also ahve the more original 43 mm case.

1971... A 2nd wrist watch for Apollo 15 CMP Alfred Worden?
July 26, 1971, check at 12:00 where it looks like a dial underneath the fireproof underwear glove at his lefthand wrist ?
During Apollo 15, Alfred Worden was Command Module Pilot and stayed in lunar orbit while David Scott and James Irwin stayed 20 hours on the lunar surface.
Thus far we had on file: 1971 Apollo 15
David Scott Left= Speedmaster ( PPK contained Bulova 88510 chronograph worn on the Moon )
James Irwin Left = Speedmaster velcro over space suit
Alfred Worden Left = Speedmaster velcro over space suit

During an Apollo 15 VIP dinner in Berlin - Germany, I have spoken 15 minutes with Alfred Worden about wrist watches but he never mentioned a 2nd watch worn on Apollo 15 🤔 #MoonwatchUniverse

1971, July 26 pre suit-up Apollo 15 astronauts' breakfast shows Worden wearing a bathrobe but it looks like he didn't wear a watch at that time.
Initial thoughts seeing a flat dial with what looks like a black strap around the lefthand wrist make us think to his cushion case Bernard Golay wrist watch which Worden wore in his official WSS - White Space Suit portrait (NASA photo: S71-52280).
Since Gemini X we have spotted wrist watches worn underneath the NASA space suits, but here the dial seems extremely flat... too flat even to be a cushion case watch or other watch for that matter. As written here above, during my conversation with Worden, he didn't mention a 2nd watch.

Alfred Worden passed away March 18, 2020, aged 88... the same date for Thomas Stafford (2024 - aged 93) and Robert Rushworth (1993 -aged 68)
