Be sure not to step one one of these! ::blowup::

28 bids up to $329.00 before I reported it (now gone).

Just put Military in the title and the idiots come running.

I've seen the same face with a different brand name, these fakers don't have much imagination.

The local shop displays a piece like that except with Longines on the face. Some poor sod bought it in for "adjusting", said he'd just picked it up on Ebay and it was keeping time poorly. When he found out how badly he'd been taken (really quite a lot of money as I remember) he left the watch and walked out of the shop. The shop owner displays it so he can explain the evils of Ebay to anybody who shows interested.

For early bidders, the temptation of getting a vintage brand watch (Omega, IWC etc), military on top of everything else, for a fraction of the price they've seen it can go may be too much. And the sellers speculate this. I my country we have a saying: on earth you can never run out of air, water or idiots :).

The reason we pay professional dealers the right price to prevent this from happening, dealers do earn they money for being professional....

Agreed! I stay away from buying on ebay... too many horror stories.

I pay a bit more to buy from the local shop and the selection is far more limited, but I trust its been well serviced, can handle it before I buy it and I can bring it back for fine regulating or the correction of any issues.

    besides, he makes good coffee!

The main thing is to ensure you are actually working with a professional & honest dealer. There are a lot who aren't above shenanigans & it makes sense to avoid them as much as a lot of the ebay sellers.

A minefield implies a hidden danger. I don't see this watch as a hidden danger - it is a blatant fake that any reasonable buyer would identify after doing some basic research. The moral is not to "stay away from eBAY" but rather "do your homework before buying (anywhere for that matter..)"

I agree with Joe. Ebay is the ideal resource for people who know what to look out for. Remain skeptical and pay attention to those return policies!

I am not a military expert, but many countries ordered watches without brand names on the dial; this style is definitely military, but the Omega logo is just so wrong!!
Joe is right on-do the homework and buy the seller, not the watch!

Especially since nowadays a lot of info is readily availble....Always funny to see that people first buy a watch on ebay and then start spamming the forumss with questions.
