Got a delivery today, a JB Champion mesh bracelet that I purchased on Ebay.
I was a bit disappointed at first, the bracelet was wrapped in some paper with tape around it and it did not look like much, and it was so light, like there was nothing inside the wrapping.
The bracelet was in really good shape though, almost like new, with all the clasps working great and the adjustable end links had good springs inside.
These bracelets are really thin and flexible and by todays standards almost feels toy-like.
After adjusting it for size and fitting it to my watch I could not be happier.
Looks great and functions perfectly, a great addition to any Speedmaster.

I have an idea that could make me rich. I'll develop .5mm wide urethane bushings to fit between the bracelet and the lugs on each side that will keep the lugs of vintage watches from getting damaged by these horrible end links on Spiedel, JB Champion, etc.

I always loved these bracelets and I think the combo is awesome. Then I learned why astronauts loved them so much... the urge to buy one is gone since...

    Nope, it's a 145.022-69 Straight Writing.

Here is my 145.012-67 with an aftermarket Seiko mesh bracelet (I really love it):

I know, makes me a bit worried as well. But I think most astronauts came back to earth with their watches strapped to their wrists so maybe not that fragile after all.

sure, and to be honest those 1039s are not much better either :) I doubt you use your watch to do anything crazy other than wearing them to the movies, restaurant or watch get-togethers :)

I use my 145.012-67 on a 1039 bracelet every single day including work at a restaurant, the only time I take it off is sleep and water activities. Maybe I’m just crazy::screwloose::;)

OP, love the JB Champion, looks great. I think I’ll get one eventually.

Not crazy, but definitely brave :) the 1039 is a nice bracelet, light, looks good on the wrist...when it's fully functioning. Just make sure all the links are ok, you don't want to see it snap off your wrist...been there, done that, no fun ;)

    Don't those JB's only expand to 19mm?

I believe so, which is why I said I'll make my bushings .5 mm each - for use on Speedmasters with 20mm lug widths.

There was a thread about these bushings this past year, I think you were "fishing" and missed it.

We can go on, and pitch this together. If they don't like the Speedmaster angle, the back-up plan is to sell them as urethral stents. Given the age of some of the guys on the panel, I'm certain their prostates would welcome the idea:

Be careful - I would be oh so leery of that O'Leary guy. He might offer you a deal, and then hit you up for a donation to pay of his campaign expenses from when he tried (and failed miserably) to win the leadership of the Conservative Party of Canada last year.

If he does hit you up for a contribution, tell him I would pay to see someone shove a bucket full of those little stents where you are suggesting if he would agree to be the subject...
