With thanks to @Just Livin for a great diversion, and congratulations on a definite non-fail Casio, here's my valedictory. I'm bowing out of this thread as one of many gestures to mark the end of lockdown - with hope that may ever continue.

With 10 minutes to go on baywatch herePurchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network, I am mentally prepared to stretch to £29.50 for this Rodania (yes, them again...)
    Rodania Secondo-matic.jpg
I do wonder, though, whether "Secondo-Meter" shows just a little lack of ambition, whether in the design or the marketing department. Nice caseback though - something similar can be seen on a Rodania thread here I recall. Patina for those who like it, and GP case not too damaged.
This one is not really for me, except for challenge purposes. But I still wish I had bid in actuality for that Rodania I saw when this all started ^^
Cheers everyone, and stay safe!

I picked up this vintage Timex Electronic off a local auction website. Came out to roughly $35 in local currency. Not a steal by any stretch of the imagination, but I liked the look of it -- the dive bezel, the faded dial, the Speedmaster-esque hands, and the electro-mechanical movement. Case is chromed, but the lines are still super-sharp and it's not dinged and pitted like so many of the vintage chrome pieces that show up in South Africa. My preliminary research suggests that it probably dates to 1969-71 as Timex used the "Electronic" name during that period before adding "Durabeat" to differentiate from the company's battery-powered quartz offerings.

I know this doesn't exactly seem to fit the brief as shown in the numerous posts before, but this dual world time Casio "Royale" can be had between 10-15usd brand new and is quite fun!

I've enjoyed a couple of Raketa watches in my time. They all seem to have a thing for idiosyncratic dial units. My 24-hr Raketa only had the *odd* numbers on the dial, which made it frustratingly easy to assume it was an hour earlier or later than it actually was. The eye tends to see the hand pointing at the number instead of the marker, or my eye at least.

    £50. I maxxed out. It’s a 1966 6602-8050 and will need a new crystal at some stage.

Another one to add to the mix picked up from ebay and in budget (just) is this Cronel. Seems to be in decent condition with a bright blue dial and keeping decent time over the weekend at least! Around 33/34mm w/o crown but on a 20mm strap and wears a decent size for me so plenty to like. Thanks to @Just Livin this could become addictive....!

Summery colors and a manual movement in good working order - for ~30$, what’s not to like?

Purchased the four watches below in an auction lot for the dollar equivalent of just over 50 pounds sterling. I purchased the lot for the 1976 women's Caravelle "Devil Diver" to gift to my wife. All the watches are running.

Sorry for the seller’s crappy picture. Still have £35 to play with to get a strap and buckle.

Nice watch - but maybe they just misunderstood "Ship it to St Petersburg" ;)

Love this game, I've been playing it for 3 years, since we bought a house and then our baby was born..

This was way before the pandemic, but it's kind of an amazing find (ok not as amazing as finding a Newman Daytona in your sofa).

I spotted this ad in the locals, luckily i still have the screenshot:
    IMG_2764.PNG

And among the "old watches" was quietly lying this piece:

    $_86.jpg

A large steel IWC sporting the iconic C89 caliber, the dial slightly discoloured, but all original. Perhaps still my best find to date.
Although there were few more amazing finds, none of them were under £50, so I'll share them another time ;P
