Is winding a Speedmaster a pain?

I'm looking at a Speedmaster. I like the Seamaster 300m as well, but like the simple style of the Speedmaster better. With that said, daily winding seems like a little bit of a pain. Did anyone here who has/had a Speedmaster find the daily winding to me more or less of a pain than anticipated?

Daily winding of a good watch is a pleasure, not a pain.

    What he said!

And you get an opportunity to admire your taste in watches while winding.

Winding is part of the charm really. Can you spare 15 seconds a day?

How 'painful' was the time spent typing your question? Exactly.

(Spend enough time on OF and I guarantee you'll own both the Speedy and the 300....:p)

Ug. A guy is thinking of buying a watch asks a question and there is always Mr Sarcastic. To answer you, it was the question I asked once. I am not doing it daily. My question is honest. If everyone says "not a pain at all", then that's it. If some poeple say, "yeah, it takes a minute, so with a busy schedule in the morning and I find myself preferring my automatic or quartz", then I'll lean the other way.

Honestly if you own more then a few like most people on this forum you have to wind and set what ever your wearing.

Winding a speedmaster in the morning is a brief but pleasant experience that no one has ever regretted. Honestly it’s about 15 seconds before you put it on.

I actually find it sort of a comforting ritual. With an automatic watch it's possible (unlikely, I know) that it could run down due to lack of activity the previous day. With the Speedmaster, you wind it up and it goes...

I don't mind winding watches, but then again I enjoy brushing and vacuuming my pool, which takes about an hour. (Admittedly, the pool is only once a week.)

I have mostly automatic watches and I don't use winders, so when I switch watches I have to set and wind the watch anyway.

More than once I've been in a position where I've quickly thrown on a stopped watch without having time to set it until I've arrived at my destination.

Like others have said, it's no big deal, and it certainly won't make you avoid wearing the watch.

    Hope that helps.

I actually find winding it very rewarding. To have a complication in a watch and the action of you winding it is something else, otherwise it won't work. I wish more watches were manual.

You don't actually have to stop your life and dedicated precious time to winding a watch. It can be done as you walk from the front door to your limo (or bus stop). While you wait for your coffee, while you wait for the elevator.

I myself find it quite relaxing to wind my Speedie while sitting on the crapper.

Thanks for the comments from a few people that it's about 15 seconds. I thought I saw a review on youtube where the guy said it can take about 40 winds so I was thinking it would be a bit of time.

You don't have to take it off your wrist to wind it? If so, I'd be afraid of dropping it while I walk.

As part of a morning routine, it’s the part that makes me smile ;)

Putting on socks or doing up laces doesn’t have the same effect

No, left arm on your chest so crown points to your right shoulder, wind with right hand. I find that easier than trying to wind "dial up" where your knuckles hinder a decent grip on the crown.
