    Hi guys,

I'm looking to buy a vintage Omega watch with an automatic movement.
One option is this watch (please see photos attached). It's a Caliber 1010 1977 automatic and actually looks in a pretty good condition. What do you think? What would be a reasonable price to pay for it? Is it authentic?
    Serial: 40532788
    marked 166 0202
The seller stated the crown is not original.

I'm pretty new to this, so any kind of advice would be great.
    Thanks!

Looks authentic but not all that clean, crown as stated not original and someone's made a particularly brutal effort to open the back. These aren't specially rare or desirable and a better one will come up.

I sold a 166.0202 very like that but a 1979 model a few months back. The 1000 series movements and their derivatives did have some issues not present in the earlier 500/700 series so make sure it is running well before you commit and fixing them can be pricy and awkward. I too would question the crown fitted to the one above as it isn't signed (as noted by the seller) and I notice the hands are different to mine too but that may just be normal variation, or it may mean they have been swapped.

I think it's a good looking watch, but does have some wear. The hands match the marker, but I don't know what the originals are supposed to look like. The hands are also short, but many of the DeVilles had short hands too. "Make sure that it is running well before committing" is kind of a Catch 22. You won't know it runs well till you receive it, and as long it's ticking most sellers say it runs great.

What issues have the 1000 series movements had?
