In terms of quality, robustness, etc. the 12 series Rolex watches are impressive. However, do Rolex fans still place the 4 and 5 digits on a higher pedestal?

Doesn’t the 12 series movement have a lot of design compromises and isn’t the cronergy escapement troublesome? 31XX, 3000, 15XX movements are fine for me.

That’s what I’ve heard on some forums. Although it seems like some folks will not allow any 32XX slander at all.

Me personally, I’m a fan of the 5 digits (my entire Rolex collection is 5 digit), but I would like to add a few 4 digits references.
