Maybe I've answered my own question but in the last photo there is a roughness about the engine turning in the movement which makes me think that, in my relative inexperience of the brand, this might not be the real deal.

Very fake... Just a quick google about the cal 8500 would take any of your doubts away

And it should have a Cal. 8900 not 8500, and the case back is wrong. It should be scalloped.

 

But if you don’t turn it around, it looks surprisingly almost nice to me.... scary

 

you guys should check out the good fakes. Those are even scarier!

 

Just to be clear, has anyone come across a good looking fake 8500 movement? That’s seems to be the major flaw in all of these watches. Considering I only buy watches on Craigslist, I guess I should probably be more careful. I’ve seen one that looks spot on apart from a few gold accents. I’ll try to find pics


Edit... couldn’t find what I was looking for, but I found this that with a quick glance looks (to me at least) real. Scary stuff

 

Saw it as fake in the very first photo. Sad.

 

The seller sold a similar watch about 6 months ago and got negative feedback. Just check his feedback. He knows what he is selling which makes it much worse in my opinion.

 

Man the mid levels are getting scary. Outside the movement there are some tells. Odd the laser etched serial but not the "seamonster"

On eBay people get away with blue murder, buyers and sellers alike. And eBay, with all their fancy rules and conditions, keeps facilitating these c#%&s. Even in the event when it is very obvious their rules are being abused they won't take any action as long as they get their share of the transaction.

 

You would have to be gullible to buy an Omega from Russia, IMO.
