So I am looking for a correct bezel for my transitional speedy. There are a few sellers on ebay who seem to carry aftermarket/knockoff ones, but I cannot always tell if I am looking at the genuine article. So, are there any opinons on this? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=121209337407Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network
I would say it is a guenine Omega bezel, but this one started on reference 145.022-69 around 30.5 million, up to about 1990. Thus for what you call a transition model, I guess a 145.022-68, this is not the correct one.
Yeah, I might be getting my transitionals mixed up, but I believe that is the correct design: dot-next-to 90 and dot-next-to 70. Mine is the 145.022-69 861 with the block "First Watch Worn on The Moon" text referred to in this thread" http://omegaforums.net/threads/quick-help-transitional-speedy-bezel.7297/#post-86664. This caseback:
This seller is the old watchco from australia so they have a track record of selling genuine omega replacement parts.
If you purchase only the insert, beware of a US seller. I did a bad experience a few years ago. The image showed the correct insert, but the item sent was another one, probably a fake. I was refunded, but time lost of course
I think that I will look for the complete bezel. Have seen a few inserts but I didn't think the insert was sold separate originally.
This is my concern as well. Finding a complete dot-next-to 70 bezel is surprisingly difficult. Also, it currently has a dot-over-90 and I would rather keep that in tact to sell separately.
I seem to recall a thread a little while ago which discussed the fact that a dot over 90 bezel may be correct for early 861's
