http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=151902854456&globalID=EBAY-USPurchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network Firstly, the seller is from Lima, Peru but I believe he is actually a legit seller. Question is if this watch is real as well. He's listed a Seamaster 2913-8 with no bezel with a eBay reserve (so he messaged me) of $13,000! Seems like a lot. It's engraved with FAP, the Peruian Airforce marking. I don't know much about these military Omega's but why would their Air Force need a diving watch? Opinions?
I see that Ash, @dsio, post pictures in 2013 of an EBay FAP 2913. The engraving is totally different. https://omegaforums.net/threads/lollypop-peruvian-fap-seamaster-14755.4330/
The example in this Ebay listing looks much better than the previous OF link you posted but you are paying a hefty premium for the FAP engraving which comes with no provenance and looks slightly crude. The engraving looks much bigger than previous examples I have seen. Caveat emptor
For the money the seller expects to get (and the seller is clearly a dealer) I would expect them to provide an extract from the archives to prove the provenance (and justify the asking price) - without this you are shooting in the dark. Do you feel lucky?
Totally agree with the huge risk factor on this one. What I can add is that I am at least confident that if an Extract was pulled it would come back as a 2913. The movement serial of 16684476 is very close to my Lollipop -8 which has a serial 166845**.
the official FAP omega sales catalogue from 1958 shows only the speedmaster and the flightmaster labelled railmaster. nothing else. kind regards. achim
Does anyone have any insight into the lollipop vs non-lollipop models? I have a 2913-6 without lollipop - were they early or later reference additions?
Since I sent this seller an message, he has been bombarding me with messages to make a deal. I would avoid this entire transaction.
Without getting into issues of whether SM300 were ordered by FAP, whenever I look at a military watch that has issue markings I like to examine the markings at high resolution. Now if we look at the case back of this example we see a scratch that was likely caused by a case opening tool. What is interesting is that the scratch doeas not appear to go through the letter "F" suggesting the FAP was added AFTER the scratch was present. To me, this raises a red flag and I would like to see solid documentation regarding the provenance.
"Since I sent this seller an message, he has been bombarding me with messages to make a deal. I would avoid this entire transaction." this is appen olso with me.. I ask more information and prices and then bombarding me to make a deal quickly .. I think that anyone who has this amazing clock and know that it is 100% original not adopt this method of sale .. It seems to want to sell very quickly . who is aware of having a clock out of order ?
Wouldn't the Extract mention that it was delivered directly to the Fuerza Aerea? That's generally what I've seen when military models have received extracts.
Not necessarily. Omega changed its policy in stating the provenance of a military watches in the extract of archives after the 2007 Antiquorum fake SM300 disaster (lot 128). So it's very likely that an extract from 2008 on does not mention such an information and states only the country.
