Want to ask if this omega constellation 561 still have original dial or repaint or aftermarket? Need advice soon..
Hi and welcome to OF do you have additional informations (reference number) and a front picture? My first impression would be redial... 561 was produced until the early 60ies, never saw date window like that on a watch from this age... I think there is no dial / movement fit. MOY test could be failed also but a straight on picture is needed
If you have only this picture and no additional informations don't buy it!! I think it is a frankenwatch based on this one picture Case and movement don't fit the dial IMO
My thoughts on this one: Case has lyre-shaped lugs that were most common around 1960, the 561 caliber would fit to that. (These informations were provided by Desmond in his Constellation blog) I'm mainly into 60s constellation, saw a lot of dials so far and there wasn't a single one with this kind of date window framing. Same is for the "Omega" font I think I saw this frame on 70s Omegas...
welcome @ejunx you did right to ask as noted above - the case is a late 50s / early 60s style which has seen some polishing (14393 if the movt is correct)) with a much later dial added. the hands don't go with that dial either. The dial itself is an oddity - late shaped Omega symbol, painted 'Omega', square date window but earlier type indices. Pictures aren't good enough to see if it some kind of transitional dial, an out and out fake or a Seamaster dial made to look like a Connie dial. in any case run away from this one and devour this site http://omega-constellation-collectors.blogspot.co.uk/2007/01/case-by-case.html hope that helps
