I am new here, so bear with and don't bite my head off if I make mistakes. This Omega watch is suspicious to me. It has no name and no second hand, only the omega symbol and the word Omega just below the 12:00. There is no serial number on the workings, but there is a 430 under the Omega symbol. To my knowledge, that cal.number was used by Elgin. Inside the back cover is stamped the Omega Watch Co. Pyramid with Stat Watch Case Co, 14karat gold. The numbers are M5558 and 188934. I was told the 7 digit number is the serial number, but I think that would date it to around 1894. Also, I believe the Star Watch Case company made the 14k case for the Omega NASA Moon watch, but believe all other cases they made for Omega were 10k gold filled. I am very confused and need help. I believe it is a Franken watch but want to be sure before I take any action. Please view the pictures.

Don't think it is a fake as such, it is using a domestic US case but that dial looks to have been clumsily refurbished. I don't get a Ranfft hit for that movement if I am reading the number right but it looks right. HOWEVER, it looks to me like it is an auto movement with the rotor missing. Avoid!!!!!

Thank you so much! Yes, I was wondering if the 430 could be for automatic, and I agree that the 12 on the dial looks askew. What do you think of the case having been made by Stat? This is obviously not the Moin watch.

It should be a center second (sweep center second hand) and an automatic. These parts are missing.

Don't waste any more time on it. If it is already yours, scrap it for the gold and move on. If it isn't yours yet then just move on.

The only reference for caliber 430 I have found was in an old Bestfit catalog. It's a size 8-3/4 ligne automatic, ladies size.

Don't buy or return if you already have bought it.

    It's a mess.

Only half there, and obsolete. Scrap gold only.........unless you have a good caliber 430 that you need a case for. Hope you haven’t bought it!

Star made cases for US sold Omega’s for a time period. That’s normal.

I agree with everything else said.

It's a wise man who is aware of his ignorance and seeks guidance before the sale.

Keep looking, your watch is out there somewhere.

    Yes.

According to AJTTit was introduced in 1950 "First lady's automatic caliber with central rotor ~ 1000 pieces (a failure)"

Followed by the gents first full rotor, the caliber 470 in 1955.
