Oh yeah, and I'm not looking to collect a 100% authentic vintage Omega, I'm just looking for something to wear every now and then as a change from my Constellation. From that stand-point, would you say it's justified spending £300 on a redialed watch?
I'd say no as well, you can get a nice original Geneve for 300euros! And an original piece in worn condition will be a great daily wearable piece
because I'd never buy a redialed watch. However, in your case, if you find a good redial then it would be OK. But that one you showed is crap.
The dial is probably the most important part of a working vintage piece. I wouldn't touch it unless it was parts value.
Did you buy it? The case looks ok, as does the crown (though in all honesty I would not know if it correct or not) but there is no movement picture and no mention of accuracy or service history in the ad. Which to me would be further reasons to keep looking for a better example.
It was serviced 3 months ago and the movement is 601. And no, I'm looking for a Seamaster Deville similar price but can only find ones costing £400-500.
Out of interest, how do you know it was serviced 3 or 4 months ago? Generally, when I get my watches serviced I ask the watchmaker for a movement pic. Without a picture of the movement, we do not know what is actually in the watch.
Fair enough, but keep looking and I'm sure one will turn up eventually. The hunt can be as much fun as the ownership.
Yeah that is true, my issue is that most of the watches that I find for the right price say no returns. I'm worried that when the watch arrives and is fake or faulty, am I covered by eBay in getting my money back?
This is why you ask members' opinions, before you buy and why you should listen and learn. Here's my opinion: Save your money to buy a piece that's worth a shit.
Okay, thanks. Would you say this is worth a bid? I'm trying to find out what is worth my money and what is best to avoid. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vintage-O...199752?hash=item1c7eb9f288:g:~IIAAOSwdGFYtr1pPurchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network
You are going to run out of good will quickly by constantly posting ebay links and asking if they are a good deal. Do a little research first and start looking in the for sale section here. Most of the crap is weeded out and anything dodgy will be called out by the forum .
I wasn't looking to buy it, I was just researching the item and comparing it to others with a similar price.
