In retrospect, a lot of watches (and cars and some other things) from the '70's and '80's were not the pinnacle of classic design. Look at a late '60's Ford Mustang or Chevy Camaro and fast forward a few years (remember the Mustang II? How about the Pinto, Chevette and Pacer? Thankfully those were slightly ahead of my car buying days). Men's platform shoes? JMHO.
There are several here who would disagree with you. Nothing wrong with a classic look that isn't tarted up with carbon fiber or unnecessary flash.
