I am searching for a Connie with black waffle dial and gold arrow markers....which means I'll probably be looking for a loooong time!

In the meanwhile, I found this black waffle/gold arrow Omega Century 14714-4 Cal. 285 with the dial I've been looking for. Can you Omega experts here please help me determine if this watch is worth buying?

To these rookie eyes of mine, my assessment of the watch is as follows:
    - the script "Omega" and "Century" font looks accurate compared to other Omega Century examples I've found and both words look properly aged in comparison to the dial (ie. the ink doesn't look fresh and new)
    - the cross hairs appear properly aged and not thickly applied like other Omega redials where the cross hairs have been reapplied
    - possible wrong crown?
    - movement appears dirty but nothing out of the ordinary for a nearly 60 year old watch?
    - caseback matches the reference number
    - most of the Omega Century's I've seen have a sub-seconds at 6 o'clock and not a central seconds hand. Not sure if this should be a cause for concern?

I truly appreciate any help and tips you guys can send my way!

I believe that “Century” was a model name used only in the US. It is not listed among the collections at the Omega Vintage Database, but yet it was sold here:

With respect to that particular watch, I can’t say much about the dial from the low-res photos supplied. The movement looks to be in rough shape and the case has some rust also.

I’d try to find one in better condition.

Company here’s my century if it helps you the dial case and winding crown are all correct CB58684A-1848-4B94-9773-230035FF2742.png

Steel cased Omegas generally had Swiss made cases, as the customs duties were not excessive. I was able to find another Ref. 14714 in a gold-plated case: https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/omega-century-cal-285-ref-14714-61-1774880136

Here's one with a black dial that was shown on this forum: https://omegaforums.net/threads/omega-century-new-aquisition.1497/

    Hope this helps,

Thanks to everyone for your comments. I agree the case condition could be better, I'm a bit fixated on the dial as I'm eager to add a waffle to my collection.

@Snowman @efauser and @gatorcpa - all those references you guys posted are helpful. @dootcho I noticed that as well and asked the seller about it, who replied with a confusing comment about his store so English isn't his/her first language.

I'll probably move on from this one and try to find something else - I'd be happy to post the link if anyone is interested.
