Is this gold plated Geneve 166.041 a possible redial?

One of the nicest gold-plated Geneve Cal 565s I’ve seen in a while, ref 166.041 with very nice edges and clean dial

Thanks for sharing links in this thread. 👍 I learn a lot on OmegaForums by reading topics like these. I'm not going to buy this watch, just curious and want to learn. “T Swiss Made T” is above the minute track. Is this possible or always a redial?

it generally is an indication of a redial but on these references it’s legitimate

So I’ve just moved this out into its own thread as it is a good question. These Geneves went through several generations and changes with effectively the same case.

The earlier ones with applied Omega logo typically have the Swiss Made below the track. Later on as Omega began cost cutting they switched to a painted Omega logo dial, which would have been cheaper and these dials have it above.

Eventually they used more dials as they went on into the 70s with some really quirky designs seen in these and their manual wind relatives.

Interesting, thanks @Davidt and @dsio! Is it only common with these Geneves or also possible on other Omega references?

It’s possible on other references, particularly those from the early 70’s.
It should be viewed with caution on anything before then

I started 'collecting' old Omegas with this very ref 166.041. Parted with it long ago.

You see this configuration on some other Japan models too, I forgot the reference but it's also on a Seamaster (photo by @noless)
