    Hi All,

I am looking to purchase a vintage Omega, the tresor has caught my eye, especially the cal. 267.

I have found the below and was just looking for opinions on whether this is genuine or a franken watch?

Images attached, any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks

I like the dial! Do you have a photo of the inside of the caseback for the reference number?

Thanks all! Image of the inside of the case back is below, the damage to the case is concerning me due to potential for water vapour to enter the watch case (left hand side on the 3rd photo). The watch is costing circa £200, not sure if I want it or not considering the condition it is in! I have uploaded some other images as well, I don't believe it has the original crown or buckle so is in essence just the dial and movement. Would love to know whether you think this is worth getting, I actually really love the clous de Paris (thanks Deafboy) on this watch!

The caliber is correct for the reference number. I’d personally go for it but I’m a sucker for textured dials.

Me too! I love the textured dials! Do you think the damage to the casing is a problem? As per the image attached?

The damage is not great, but a watch maker might be able to repair that area and install a gasket so it seals well. I’m not sure if that amount of damage would be a deal breaker for me at that price.

This type of case is not watertight in any sense, even when in perfect condition. With vintage watches in general, you just need to be careful about getting them wet. The watch has some minor issues, but it's attractive and priced well, so if you like it, I think you should go for it. I don't think I would bother trying to fix the minor damage to the case, but I would probably have a watchmaker address the issue with the crown/stem.

What "issue" are you seeing with the stem/crown?

Unless I'm mistaken, the crown is protruding away from the case.

It appears as if it has an aftermarket “dust proof” crown that is too large and shallow for the case tube.

You're right. Looking more closely, it's probably just the wrong crown, which should be easy enough to address.

Hi All thanks! I have purchased this now for £180. This is my first vintage watch purchase so I expect to make some mistakes but it certainly won't be my last. I saw that the crown is different from the original, I will be looking to purchase parts for this watch in the next couple of weeks. For me it is a bit of a project so let's see what happens! I will post some better pictures once I have it :)

    Congrats!

I suggest you have the watch serviced by a competent watchmaker if you are to wear the watch regularly. The service should include:
    - complete dismantling of the watch (every screw, gear, etc.)
    - cleaning with the proper watchmaker's fluids
    - reassemble, replace worn parts (often the mainspring has lost its elasticity if it is "blue steel")
    - lubrication
    - adjustment
    - final regulation

Look for @Archer 's articles on the forum
Also, I think @ChrisN is in your neck of the woods. He can do a good job to service it.

I agree with the comments from others and I too love honeycomb dials and for £200 just buy it!

Most watchmakers also have excellent resources for parts, so he may also be able to find you a proper crown.

This is amazing, I will get it serviced as soon as I get it, do you guys know roughly how much a service costs?

@thekwaze love the honey comb Rolex you have!
