The Omega database doesn't show any records for "2981" or "Geneve, 491, automatic." The crown is wrong, but is the whole thing a franken?

What is the triangle marking on the case back (below the reference number)?

 

Here's my 2981 - 18k Rose Gold with an 18K Rose Gold dial and a 19J cal 491 automatic inside. The case is by Cedex (Charles Dubois) and was made in 1958:-



Heavenscloud - the triangle marking in the above is the casemakers mark and stands for Central Boites (Bienne) which was at the time owned by the Brandt family.

The ebay watch is Absolutely fine - although its has a harder life than the other examples shown in this thread, one of which is mine. Notice the bevel, which has 2 sharp transitions (although in the photos you can only see one, and this,is not very distinct on the ebay watch)

Still, it could be just a poor photo, as the movement itself seems in nice condition, so maybe worth taking a punt?

The markers and hands are 18k rose gold on these, and they really catch the sunlight

Thanks, Sherbie. I agree the edges look more rounded on the eBay watch than on the ones above. I'm primarily interested in this watch as a daily wearer so I'm actually glad it's not a pristine example or I might not want to wear it!
