I recently picked up a 1950 Seamaster Cal.351 ref# C2577-2 as a project and was wondering what parts are legit and what is not. I normally collect Accutrons and this is my first Omega. The dial is what is most suspect to me.
Fonts look like a redial. However, i am not into vintage I could be wrong. More experienced members will tell you.
Does everything else look about right? Also, other than ebay are there any other places to look for an original dial?
Think you should post that in the Worst Redials sticky - if it's cheap enough and you want it, get it. Paul
It would be easier to find a good original example rather than cobbling something together. Unless, of course, that is free. By the way, that is one of the worst redials I have seen. Look through the worst redial thread, you may find other works by this artist.
Good thing it was cheap. Being a redail doesn't really bother me to much because I like wearing them and my job does lead to them being roughed up a bit. Since the purpose of it was a project and I like tinkering with these vintage movements I don't mind "cobbling" something together for the sake of a daily wear watch.
That is a valid option. Only problem for me is that I'm moving to Japan in a month and will be there for ~3 years. I guess I will have to work through the language barrier or send back to the states.
Redial is awful, but movement is nice. If the watch is cheap, it might make sense to find another Ref. 2577 Seamaster with an original dial and trashed movement. gatorcpa
