My watchmaker show me this bezel and ask me if it was real? He brought it from a parts lots.

 

Even just for the condition I d say it s authentic. Now let's see how well it will manage to clean it up. I d pay attention in doing it if I were him. Last in minty conditions went for more than 10k€.

Whilst I'm not an expert - the 'C' in TACHYMETRE looks wrong.
My understanding is that the letter 'C' on these bezels should be open with almost horizontal ends (no curve)

I believe this site is out of date as there are actually 2 styles of Black Base 1000 bezels. MWO has the correct info of course. The styles are easily distinguishable, see below, as the one style is a DON and the other, often ghosted, is (IMHO) not a DON. The fonts are different as well.

I see another difference: the dot over 100. One has the dot over the first 0, in the other one the dot is between the 0.
Am I wrong?

 

One easy difference in font besides the C, is the shape of the S.

Somebody also pointed out before that the space between BASE can be seen as: BA SE vs B A S E whereas the first clearly has DON style and the latter has dot a little deviated from "0".

To the OP, I also think this is a correct BASE 1000 bezel.

The watchmaker is not even considering anything for it. , unless probably a rare part for rare parts swap.
