Hello my mother inherited a watch from her father a long long time ago. It was put in a box and got forgotten. She almost threw it away when I stopped her thankfully.
It looks like an 166.024 but this is uncharted territory for me. The clock isn’t spinning but when I change the time it ticks for a second just to stop again. Thanks for any information about this piece (value, year, etc.)

You did very well stopping her from throwing that watch out, some better pictures would be nice but that does indeed look like an authentic Seamaster 300 Big Triangle. That is a very nice watch.

What kind of photos could help identify it?

Some nice high quality straight-on shots of the dial would be good so it can be seen clearly, and a shot of the movement with the serial number visible, its on the outer edge of the movement currently hidden by the rotor.

It's definitely a Ref 166.024, just want to get a better look at the dial and hands and see if the serial number is in the right range.

Everything is looking good to me, a photo of the inside of the case-back is also helpful.

As an aside, the movement is in need of a service with some repairs to the auto-winding mechanism. You can see that the rotor has been rubbing against the case-back.

Is this what you mean by case-back?

I agree with BeeRBe, looks ok from here. Is the movement in the correct range? (But then again Omega took them out and swapped them to have a quicker turn around time when servicing) It helps when it is in the date range.

The easiest way to take good quality photos is to do it in day time, not far from a window, and with the help of a mug: you put your watch on the table, put the mug right next to it, and you lay your phone on top of the mug with the lense looking at the watch.
This will keep the focus steady, and you can zoom in.
