Hi guys, I’ve started to invest my money into watches (saves my putting any cash into a low interest rate account). I’ve bought a couple and looking at this watch... I haven’t come across a Geneve with a “cross hair dial” can anyone please advise? Also what models original come with this “cross hair” style?

Looking at it again, I can see the “Swiss made”
Is above the small lines, is this right?

This watch has been poorly refinished. Swiss made will never be above the minute markers. Hands are incorrect for this model. It's a real dud.

A lot of models came with a crosshair dial.

What watches do you own? We love pictures! :)

The Seamasters are the mid-size 31mm variety and the Constellation is very polished.

Thank you, this constellation is suppose to be 14ct gold capped but I’m not sure how to find this out

cross-hair dials seem to be reasonably popular with mid-century Omega Seamaster and Constellation models. I did come across this "interesting" cross-hair model where the lines are interrupted through the text. Haven't seen this much which leads me to believe it is a redial. Following in the 2ndpictue is what I believe was the typical way the crosshairs were done by Omega. Others may be able to weigh in better than myself if the interrupted crosshair dial was correct but my guess is all of these may be redials.

Yeah I’ve noticed that too, some don’t have the lines going all the way through, I came to the conclusion these are a poor re dial..

Does any know where else I can look to buy omega watches? Apart from eBay and Chrono? Not sure if I want to buy from auctions as my knowledge isn’t quite there nor can I take it back if I don’t like it?

I think you need to sit back, take a deep breath and have a serious think about where you are parking your money if it is as you say for investment purposes.

IMHO none of those watches are even in the collectable category, never mind about "investment grade". They all have issues in one form or the other. How much did you pay per piece? Then we can really make or break your investment day! :D

Ah I see! Bought a few from Chrono24, eBay and I went to a couple of watch fairs last year. Try not to laugh too much at what I paid (by the sounds of it!!)

    Seamaster deville 18k - £1,150.00
    Seamaster deville stainless - £590.00
    Constellation 14k - £1,100
These are all from Chrono24 and eBay

I’ve also bought two Rolex watches and some more Omega watches...

What would you say are in the collectable catagory?

Thinking of seeing if I can take these back now :(

If you bought them a year ago probabaly not. Remember though, value is in the eye of the beholder. If you’re buying for investment purposes - you need to be a careful shopper when it comes to price and the general value on the market. But if you are buying to wear and enjoy, who cares what you paid.

***edit*** After scrolling back up to your original post, it looks like you are buying them as an “investment.” I don’t have much to say on that besides all “investments” should really be calculated and I am questioning whether you had enough knowledge going in to make decent purchases as “investments.” Sorry mate.

My first words of wisdom are "never ever ever ever buy anything from Chrono24". That is unless you like paying 2-5x market value.
