Is this an optical illusion?

My beloved old UG chrono appears to be squinting a bit. Is the right hand side register a bit larger than the left? Is this an illusion caused by the register’s outer ring? Hoping to get your opinion.

I bought the watch after reading about it in a Hodinkee Bring A Loupe article. The wonderful Sala book shows some Compur photos with the (to me) similar “illusion”. I added one pic from the book. Tell me what you think. Do yours do that too? Any pictures?

It looks like Columbo a bit! Oh, and “one more thing!” It’s ugly but I absolutely love it! Favorite of my modest collection and the one that I would pull out of the house if there was a fire. This old watch picked up 5 seconds since 9am today (Eastern) and works without having been serviced.

I don't know UG, but unless you did some very weird camera magic the right register is definitely larger than the left.

Around 5%, comparing inner ring to inner ring.

Comparing outer ring to outer ring, it's 5% as well.
