I recently purchased this watch and was curious if it is an authentic omega? The case is a highly polished steel finish and the steel hands and accents against the black face are truly stunning.. Thanks in advance. .

 

Genuine yes, original no, refinished dial and case, probably some replaced parts in the movement and it needs a service or has issues.

 

It is pretty. If you bought it under the terms of it being completely original and paid a premium for it, then you need to contact the seller and request a refund. If you got it for a good price and are happy with it, then enjoy.

 

@tomvox1 might have some insight as I believe he had a similar model for sale last year.

 

I’ve never seen (or maybe never noticed) the #1, or any other number, inside the omega symbol in the movement.

 

Its pretty commonly seen and believe an indicator of the hand height for that given installation ie do the hands need to clear dial furniture or not.

 

I paid about $700 for it. I assumed dial was refinished and didn't care to much about that. I just wanted to confirm that it was not a fake replica. Thanks for confirming this.

I assume it's from the middle 60's, is that correct? Also, I'm leaning towards getting a beads of rice band. Would that be appropriate for this style watch?

Its interesting how the date moves by pulling the crown out to the furthest position. The watch keeps excellent time and is truly stunning. The pics I uploaded don't do it justice (bad lighting).

I am with the previous replies- it is a genuine Omega, but has a refinished dial. The case refinishing is something that is the preference of the current owner- to "polish" or more accurately Refinish the case is something collectors frown on, but owners truly enjoy.
Nice watch- make sure you keep it serviced regularly (every 5 years). Omega has recently begun limiting the supply of reversing wheels for these models (550-565 caliber family of automatics), but they actually restarted parts production for them 10-15 years ago due to demand.

The BOR was common on the 166.010, I believe there are a couple on the forum now. That particular model dates to the late 60’s and even though the 5 row BOR is more commonly associated with the late 50’s early 60’s and the 7 row was for the Deville’s of the same era, that one took a 5 row. You just need to make sure you have the correct endlinks which I think was the 512. Perhaps @Lucasssssss can chime in with the exact bracelet combo that works on this shape case.

Check with @No Mercy to see if this is the correct bracelet and has the right amount of links for you. The 11/12/511/512 were basically all the same shaped endlinks and are interchangeable as far as I know.
If The above is still available, and correct- don’t hesitate. The price is right and it’s from a known seller here with good rep. You won’t get better on eBay.

Per your suggestion, I reached out to @No Mercy for information on the BOR bracelet. I will await his response

 

Correct endlink for this model is #11 which are period correct, bracelet is 1502, 1037, 8270, 8220 and 1036. I have most commonly seen the 1502 bracelet on the 166.010.

Alternatively #11 is interchangeable with #511, but the latter is not period correct.

Couple days ago and at the advice of several members on this forum, I ordered the 1502/511 combo from "No Mercy" so I believe the watch will look very similar to the watch pictured above.

I got the watch about three weeks ago and originally it kept excellent time. In the last twenty four hours, I've noticed that the watch stops. I will have to tap the glass and/or reset the reset the time, the second hand then starts ticking again, but then it stops again, sometimes after a few minutes sometimes after a few hours. Any suggestions??

 

Gotta send it to a watchmaker and eat the cost or contact the seller and see if they’ll take pity on you. I had an eBay watch that I bought as “serviced” from a trusted seller and it quit on me within a month of purchase. I contacted the seller and he made good on it. His watchmaker hadn’t tightened something down properly and it worked it’s way loose- a simple oversight and easily forgiven. It’s been flawless since

 

Thanks everyone for all of your advice. The people on this form are absolutely amazing. I've attached a picture of the watch. It has been serviced and I was able to find a beads of rice bracelet from a fellow Forum member. It fits perfect just as expected.
