starting my search for a nice vintage omega and most I've looked at have a gold/metal omega emblem attached at the 12:00 position. This one was offered to me from a seller I trust with my life when it comes to gold and silver but this watch just looked off from other omega' s I've looked at. Thank you for allowing me to pick your collective genius brains on this subject.
Most likely it is, but let's see photos of the inside of the back and the movement. The dial has been refinished very poorly so I would not recommend this watch regardless.
Would love to add more info but I know nothing about it other than I was told it works and it's being offered to me close to the gold value of the 18k case.
Who doesn't need more gold.. thought it'd be fun to add a gold watch to the pile of rings, chains and other odd jewlery that can be worn instead of just sitting in a safe deposit box like most my gold coins do.
On ebay it is a $200 watch, on a good day! If you are looking for a decent vintage omega, keep checking the sales forum here, at least they will be honest.
As others have mentioned, the dial has been refinished badly. It also looks like a US cased watch, possibly with a bumper movement inside. Most of these US cased watches are in gold filled cases, are there any pictures showing gold hallmarks? If not the price goes down even more...
If you really want a nice Omega in gold, there are at least two that venerable members of the Forum are aiming to sell. See the "private watch sales" thread above. From here you're going to get bona fide watch and gold!
I'm getting the idea, from everyone, that you should not buy this watch. The experts on this forum know their stuff. The advice they gave me proved to be good advice. I took it and it has been worth $$$£££.
