Looking at it, my suspicion is, that somebody has polished away the seamonster, and engraved it like that. I could be totally wrong, though.

 

I dont know about rare but I've seen them for sale before and you can still buy them new - I have one on one of my Speedmasters

Here is the detail of the case back for the Speedmaster, they were used on the Speedmaster after the moon landing until sometime in 1971.

It would appear that the 'rarity' comes from the addition of the ZAF and the date - I dont know if this makes it rare or if it is simply just engraved which might decrease its value?
