    Hi Everyone,

After all the great advice I've received in the forum over the last month I've decided on the Seamaster Sparkle 166.032.

I've found one for sale that I like and just want to check that it's a genuine Omega and not a fake or has had parts replaced before I purchase it.

I can see that it's not in amazing condition, but that's okay with me as it's within my budget.

Here are some photos - all opinions welcome :)

    Cheers!

Don't forget to add a service in as looks like it needs one..

That's a good point. Possibly after including the price for a service it may not be such a good deal. Do you have a rough idea of how much a service for this watch might cost?

I had one done about a year ago for about $650 ($800 CAD for me). It wasn't in great shape.

All depending on what it needs so say at least $300ish + parts

Ah, yes, I should clarify.. mine was done at an Omega certified shop at Omega rates, and did need some parts replaced.

That watch has the wrong case back. Should be a 168.023 non chronometer. Also dial looks non sparkle, odd.

I think I'm going to give this one a miss due to the incorrect case back, lack of a 'sparkle' dial and the cost to have it serviced.

If I hadn't posted it in here I probably would have bought it and ended up with a lemon so a big thanks to all for the advice!

I'm unable to post in the WTB section, but if anyone has a gold Seamaster Sparkle under $850 that they are looking to sell please let me know :)

    Cheers,

    Henry

168.023 is the Chronometer version. This is the non-chronometer 166.032 with the correct case back.

The dial is not the sparkled type, but smooth finished with a concentric sunburst pattern - quite a few of them out there.

There's nothing wrong or incorrect with this watch. It's just a different model with different dial and more importantly, different movement and designation. If you shop around, you will find some shop with very reasonable service cost. I wouldn't pay more than $200 plus parts for servicing it. Some shops even charge lower.

The one just sold at the sale forum here has a higher grade chronometer certified movement and therefore a higher price, but not by much.

Thanks TNT. I just sold a 168.023 and have few of these Sparkles, but it did not stop my brain from flipping the two references. Feel a little dumb, glad you were around to catch it

I did think that too. The 166.023 is the chronometer version with the 751 movement and the 166.032 is the non-chronometer version with the 752 movement.

Even though the caseback is correct I'll still pass on this watch. The condition is worse than I first thought and I'm super keen on one with a 'sparkle' dial. I'm glad that was pointed out because I didn't realise from the photos

    Cheers!

    Hi Guys,

Can I ask 1 more opinion. To me it looks like a genuine 166.032 Seamaster sparkle in good condition and a fair price. I'm not 100% sure about the crystal (have seen this mag window crystal on one other sparkle) but Otto Frei have the genuine 166.032 crystal in stock so it wont be too much of an issue to get it replaced.

Just want to get a couple of expert opinions to make sure it's genuine before I buy it.

    Thanks!
    Henry
