I recently purchased this watch and I’m starting to have doubts that it’s an authentic piece. I’d love to hear what you think. Thanks

It just doesn’t seem right to me from every aspect of the “watch”

That’s what I thought, I mean it could have an aftermarket bracelet but I’ve looked at a lot of others that are the same style and it appears the insides are the same the only thing I’m worried about was the bracelet and the back cover

Looks real to me. Do you have a pic of inside the case back?
I'm surprised there's no logo on the bracelet, however.
Could be a replacement clasp or the applied logo might have come off.

Lume seems just dumped on hands.

Looks like corrosion attacking the lume from underneath.

The back cap just isn’t the same as others I’ve seen and I’m not sure if that’s legit or not

If you get us a pic of the inside case back, we can search the reference number and compare exactly with others.

Don't worry about it until it arrives. Once we get the reference number, all questions will be answered........unless somebody else reading this thread has the exact watch.

Looks legit... at least the movement is. Which leads me to think the rest is legit.

FYI some movements come in adjusted and unadjusted versions. The adjusted ones are normally more accurate when they leave the factory, and the dial normally states chronometer on it.

I believe the watch is the real deal . I have two that I bought on ebay a couple of years ago and did some research because I had the same concerns. For what I gather Omega made these watches from 89 to mid 90’s, right before the James Bond Seamaster. Some people call them the Pre-Bond Seamasters. They first ones came with the 1441 HAQ movement and later they came with the 1438. For what I read the 1441 is the most collectible because it was used only for like a year. They also came with an automatic movement that was certified chronometer, I believe it was the caliber 1111.

Were the bracelets unsigned and the caseback similar?

Watch looks straight to me, though that is a late movement and hand set for that caseback so it is possible one or other was replaced. The corrosion on the hands is typical. The early models had Mercedes hands, later they went to sword hands.

The PreBond came in 2 sizes and in quartz and auto versions hence the differences in date window placement you are seeing. The 41mm full size was much rarer, the autos rarer still.

The early ones came with that plain caseback. Some clasps were signed with an 18k gold logo insert which falls often out. Others had a stamped logo.

There used to be a fantastic WUS resource on Pre Bonds but sadly the death of Photobucket ruined it.

Looks like mine, which is real ;-) from 1991. My bracelet lost the little Omega sign on the clasp after a few years as well.
    Enjoy!
