Authentic, but wait for the speedy experts to critique it. Ie is it all correct, etc. but not a fake

I'm not a Speedy expert but it looks fine to me. I'd make the trip if you're in the market.

What makes you suspect it's a fake, Geordie?

Real and a desirable one if it's originality checks out. The seller doesn't seem to know what he has.

It certainly appears real. I believe it's a Ed White 105.003. The dial appears correct with narrow T Swiss Made T. The double bevel caseback is right. The hands look like replacements but are correct. The chrono hand is the slightly longer modern replacement, I think. Pushers look ok. The bracelet is perhaps a 1035 model, which is correct for a 105.003. Can't make out the end links. Bezel is the correct DON. Certainly worth pursuing but it needs a much closer inspection inside and out. Good luck.

Yes, batteries are expensive for that model. I can see why he would want to move it on. :)

Well, you're certainly not looking at 85 quid, that's for sure. I'll leave it to others to give you a more accurate figure but anywhere from 4-6 thousand pounds I'd guess

does an engraved message or identification on the back lower the value -- if so, how much lower? vinn2

Usually it would unless it's of historical significance. It's difficult to quantify though. With rarer models I don't think many buyers would turn their nose up at an engraving on the caseback
