Hi, Guys need your help in figuring out the type of omega ladies watch is this as i bought this through a consignment online. She said it was a collectors item however unsure of what year it is. Or if this was even original. Appreciate your help on this. I just learned to love watches a little too late :) Thank you

10K gold-filled indicates a US market watch, just one of many "jewelry" watches offered in the 1960s/70s.

Not rare and not a collectors item. Can be had on eBay for less than $100.

Welcome to the forum! Sadly, late model women's watches are not very collectible - but, on the flip side, that means you can find some amazing vintage watches at very cheap prices. You're not too late. We have a few ladies on this forum who collect vintage watches of all kinds, both men's and women's. The best part is that vintage men's watches from the 1940s - which are generally more collectible - are also relatively small in size, so they'll look good on your wrist. To see an example, I will connect you with @Syrte so that you can get a feel for what she likes to collect:

Welcome Lauren, always nice to see a woman in these parts. Who cares if it’s collectible?
If you like it that’s what counts.
I would not recommend collecting watches anyways, it can be an expensive hobby and it’s full of pitfalls. However if you’re going to be buying other vintage watches I suggest you post pictures here before you pull the trigger- that might help avoid a costly mistake.
    Best regards

Have my doubts on that one. I have never seen an Omega of any description with that crude method of attaching the bracelet to the case. I have never seen a 10 karat gold filled Omega, or any Omega ever, made of 10 karat, period. I have never seen an Omega with that primitive closure on the bracelet. I won’t concede that it even an Omega until I see the movement, and a view of the inside of the case back.

Pretty little watch to wear if you like it. Collectible it isn't. Omega, who knows? difficult to say without seeing what's inside. I hope you didn't pay too much but again, if you like it that's what matters, or so they say...

Women vintage watches are rarely collector items, not because they are inferior but because not enough people want to collect them. I wouldn't believe most of what consignment houses staff say.

Huge numbers of 10K gold-filled Omegas (men's and women's) were sold in the US and and if you actually look at the design of the bracelet attachment it's actually not crude in any way, quite the opposite in fact.

These and many more like it were fashion watches and sold at a price point making the Omega brand available to those seeking a far less expensive alternative to a solid gold watch.

I agree with everyone else, I have seen many of these on eBay while looking around, I'm definitely not an expert and cannot comment on the authenticity.

Not a collectable, especially due to the 10k gold filling and the fact that many, many watches similar to this one were made.

However if you like it, keep it.

It looks gold plated or maybe even gold filled.

Judging by eBay sales and what I'm seeing in the watch photos, I wouldn't bet on this watch being much of a high price seller either.

It probably isn't going to be a collectable either, but I'm sure someone would appreciate it.

If you really want to get into collectables you need to know what IS exactly collectable, usually models produced in lower numbers are collectable, such as the silver snoopy or Ultraman Omega speedmasters.

Vintage watches can be collectable, but they tend to be the ones like the Ed White Speedmasters, which can reach quite high prices and aren't a good place to start.

I would like to politely (but vehemently) disagree with your statement.
There are literally thousands of VERY collectible vintage watches posted on this forum from many different brands.
Although collectible sometimes means high prices it doesn’t always have to.
As an Omega devotee I invite you step over the the vintage section for many fine examples.

I still want to see the movement before I’ll call it an Omega. My opinion on the bracelet, the buckle, and how the bracelet is attached to the case remain unchanged.

Acknowledged; Thank you for pointing that out.

That's part of why I joined these forums, it's always exciting to learn more about Omega and watches in general.

Either way however, that particular watch isn't going to be a collectable in my opinion. (Although you never know, what one person considers 'junk' may be another man's treasure.)

Did you get a bulk price for those two watches?
Again, if you like them and if for you they were worth what you paid for them, then they were worth what you paid for them.
