Is this 1940s Omega with an unusual 18 k case original?

Hi, my daughter has asked me about this 1940s Omega and I need your help. As the photos show it has a scalloped 18k case I've never seen before. The inside case back markings would indicate it is original but something makes me suspicious, especially given the all-too-polished condition. So welcome your thoughts on the whole watch-- case, crown, movement, and dial.

IMO all original except the crown which is probably a later replacement.
Case is a bit polished but overall a nice looking watch

I am not an expert, but it appears to be a genuine FRENCH case. I'll leave it to the experts to opine on possible refinishing.

I think it is Swiss made. The key hallmark marked 29 indicates Weber & Cie is the case maker.

There is the Helvetia head hallmark clearly visible, so it should be a Swiss case.

She found it at a dealer. I told her I thought what they were asking- -some $4 k-- was easily 2x its value. What do you think?

I recognise the pictures - all dealers have some signature shots! All of his watches are nice, but also expensive - like most dealers. The watch shows as sold on their site. Did your wife get it?

Any thoughts on @padders suggestion that this might be a redial? Also, the seller indicates it is a Cal. 266. Is that correct?

No, definitely not! This cal 28 (later called 360) is often mixed up with movements out of the 30mm family at a superficial glance.
It is easily discernable by the smaller size and the wide facet at the rim by people who know their stuff...
