Is this 168.022 Seamaster worth to buy (1000 USD)?

The seller ask about 1000 USD

Why I like it:

1. Cal. 564, a beautiful swan-neck fine-tuning movement.

2. The Seamaster is within my budget and has a robust case. I also really want the 168.005, but the price is too high for me.

I mainly collect Vintage Grand Seiko and King Seiko watches, and I'm completely unfamiliar with Omega Vintage, but this watch immediately caught my eye just as much as the 168.005.

I found this forum while searching for articles, and I sincerely ask for guidance from experienced collectors.

Thanks & Best Regard

It looks fine to me and I don't think the price is crazy. I sold one with a bracelet for about $1200, IIRC. However, if you really want the Constellation, I think you should save up some money and keep hunting. The two watches are extremely different in size and style, and it's hard for me to see how this would scratch your itch for a 168.005.

168.005 is a little hard to find good condition one, most of them got over polishing make the lug very round. I have enough money buy one but the price is a little over to me (~3000 usd)

and the reason of 168.005 I like is because the case (dog leg) and movement (cal.564), so maybe I'll buy an dog leg 168 series but cal.1011, and buy a cal.564 Seamaster

I can get all thing I want and a little less money w/ 2 watch, that looks great deal to me.

I don't agree that it's necessary to pay $3k USD for a decent 168.005, but perhaps you are looking to buy from a dealer.

Well I live in Taiwan, there not many option, normally looking Japan market or local seller

last time I see a good one from local seller charge NTD 120K (~4000 usd), sad
but buy things in ebay is much higher risk, because need use third party service to buy it and ship, if watch is fake or have problem normally too late to argue

Good looking Seamaster in good condition. Very nice entry to vintage Omega.

Take your time and follow Private Sales thread here for good watches at fair prices from reliable OF collectors. As a new member you are allowed to purchase here- if you see a watch that interests you just make direct private message to seller.
The Private Sales thread is for OF collectors and prices reflect collectors selling to each other. The Watches For Sale thread is where dealers sell- and there ar many nice watches there from vetted dealers, so you can search there also.

(You may already know this but many new members do not know the difference)

Welcome to OF

Yea it’s sort of crazy that there seem to be so many people willing to pay $3k except when I’ve got a perfect one to sell then I’m lucky to get $2k lol.
