Hi all, I found this recently, and the price is too high for a fake, but well under market value. I don’t notice anything that looks off, but I realize it is probably a fake (or maybe stolen if it’s real) because there is a card that says gmt master in the last picture. Still I was wondering if anyone here could pick out any issues with the watch for future reference? Thanks!
Looks fake (at least the dial is) to me. Font on Oyster Perpetual is all wrong. Also why is there a GMT Master booklet included?
Sometimes these sales are simply scams, where the seller doesn't have the watch. Or it could be stolen, or damaged. People don't sell Rolexes to strangers at bargain prices.
Three strikes against this: 1. “Oyster Perpetual” font appears off 2. No movement photos 3. The set includes a “GMT-Master” manual rather than the proper “Explorer” one
I would also believe it was a fake because of the typeface, spacing and quality of the finish on the markers. Fakes are becoming very hard to tell from photographs and it is often easier to spot that the box and warranty cards are wrong than the watch itself.
That 'O' in Explorer looks really off. Total fake, plus the GMT master manual only digs the hole deeper.
Thanks for all of the responses. I assumed it was fake, but I just wanted to know everything that was wrong with it for my future reference. Thanks everyone
Also, fwiw, I've seen several fake 114270 and 214270 References that don't have the laser etched crown on the crystal and don't have the clasp code and bracelet model engraved inside the SEL.
