Is the lack of original bracelet a dealbreaker for you?

I have found a nice looking 89/90's Speedmaster 145.0022 on a local forum, which is sold with a replacement 1171 bracelet. I am curious what you fine people think about this with regards to pricing and if it seems odd for a "vintage" but not veerrry vintage Speedmaster to not have its original bracelet? The watch looks great and the price is right (roughly 3.4kUSD), but any comments would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Alex

As long as the watch is priced appropriately, would not bother me. I'm not familiar with pricing on this particular ref at the moment.....

You can always sell the newer 1171 and then find an older one. You never know, you might come out on top with the switch.

Bracelets are easy to source, not a dealbreaker for me.

IMHO dial/bezel looks great! Probably need to factor in the cost of a service.

As mentioned above, so long as priced appropriately, it wouldn't bother me at all. Personally, I am a fan of the 1171 bracelet, but the Speedmaster looks good on almost anything; bracelet, strap, NATO or otherwise .

Thanks again for the responses. Seller is meeting potential buyer or Monday but will defer to me if there's no deal.

Personally the 1171 replacement looks better then the current bracelet style that that one would have had I think.

That might be earlier then a 89 though...

As for price... bracelets factor into price but don’t change desirability. I’d add 250 to the base price for that as new 1171’s are 400$ from an OB. 101’s price guide is for head only and bracelets are then added if they are present.

I think that the price is quite fair from what I know so far, and it was serviced by a local AD in October, which is nice.

It is advertised as his 1990 birth year watch, which is why I wrote 89/90. I'm an 86 so it wouldn't be so bad it happened to be a tad older.
I thought I had become fairly knowledgeable but what tells you that this is earlier than 1989? I'm just curious and willing to learn.

Appropriate bracelets have never been difficult to find. If the watch is compelling, and it’s priced fairly, acquire the watch.

If we move aside from the more common references such as 145.022 Speedmasters, the bracelet itself is often easy to source (be it 7912, 1171, 1170, 1098, 1068 etc etc). It's the endlinks that take the time.

I've ended up selling a couple of bracelets as I ran out of patience trying to source endlinks.

wouldn't be a deal breaker for me. the price would have to reflect that the bracket was a replacment .

IMO a missing or wrong bracelet is never a dealbreaker for a fine watch if the price reflects this issue...BUT afterwards i always try to find the correct bracelet for my watches ..;)
