Now I'm not for a second saying this is a good example, but nevertheless, these seemed to be selling around the $500 mark not long ago. This one only got bid up to $175 and didn't meet its reserve. Did anyone think the recent prices were reasonable? Were they a temporary blip, stirred up by the large number that appeared for sale in a small amount of time, or alternatively did this one just slip under the radar? http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=141690081410&globalID=EBAY-GBPurchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network
I think you are correct but the seller having a reserve price (and any ugly piece) kept bidders away. @250scr DON is considerably nicer, has no reserve, has 4 more days on EBay and, I believe, will be a better indication of DON current market value. http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=231593800911&globalID=EBAY-USPurchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network
I think this one is so genuinely unappealing that it would be hard to draw any conclusions from it. I'd like to see results on a few more in marginally better condition to see if there is a repositioning of the market. True that some poor condition ones went for strong money but I think this one is a bit of an outlier.
I think both of them are not that good I must say. But let's see where it ends, price wise. The first one will not fetch $500 is my bet... Let's wait and see.
As with anything else, the better the DON, the higher the price. You can't draw conclusions on the market without considering three factors: 1. condition! 2. CONDtion!! 3. CONDITION!!! Sometimes a fourth factor comes into play... CONDITION!!!!
I picked up a don not long ago. it's not great, but is better than these I think. Not sure if I should post the price and pic before these end though. Rather wait and see where these go on their own. Maybe if that first one had been marketed as a Meteor Bezel, it would have fetched more?
That's my point. The one I linked is poor but a couple of months ago, one sold for the same price that wasn't even useable. Ones in similar condition somehow fetched $500. It just seems like in April/May folk went crazy for them.
Here's a chart showing recent eBay sales prices. Negative slope is statistically significant, p < .01.
I'd also say, that you can still get a very strong price for a DON bezel in very good condition and a nice blueish/geyish tone. Condtion is the key...
