Hi, I have recently been into vintage watch,.mostly Omegas from late 40s to 60s.

I would appreciate it greatly on members expertise here ;).

One of my early piece that I get is a Seamaster 501 case 2849 gold cap. It is pretty common case and cal combination, however the dial...i have only saw it once on a japan site.

I am asking if this is legit and the correct combination. Appreciate all inputs.

Is it just the wording or are the hour markers too?

You can check for yourself by comparing the thickness of the cross hair and Seamaster. Cross hair should be a bit thinner than Seamaster to be correct. 20170414_203213.jpg

Remember to compare the different parts of the watch when making an assesment.

In this case, a flawlessly white dial in a battered case where the gold cap has been so heavily polished that it has worn of on the edges of the lugs.

That those two items mismatch to that degree ought to make your alarm bells go off.

Amazing... I myself did not notice the worn off lugs when I bought it looking at the watch in my hands...it was only after I took it home that I notice them...let alone from pictures...I wish I can do that soon

Great advice in regards taking into consideration the watch condition as a whole to make my assessment

Another thing I would like to ask...are the hour markers original to the dial (omega) or are they replacements? never seen this on google search.

Crystal is scratched and cracked. Pictures are out of focus. Is there a "Swiss Made" on the bottom of the dial or not?

I don't know how anyone can give an opinion on this dial.

I have seen that type of marker on 1950's Omegas.
