Is paint on the sides of the markers always proof of redial, or........?

    I would say yes! The dial is originally painted and surface treated before the furniture is mounted.
    The one you show here has been painted over without
    removing the markers. That's bad craftsmanship!

    That watch screams redial without even looking at the markers.

    There are some watches that have the marker embossed in the metal of the dial, however in those cases the paint should be very neat and low to the dial surface. Those dials you pictured are terrible, the paint even flowing up over the tops of the points :thumbsdown:

    Yes, on old dials. those markers were fixed there permanently and cannot be removed.

    Most Omegas of which I have been able to behold the backside of the dial shows how the markers are fixed after surface finishing. Fully embossed designs are sure to exist, but I have not seen it on any Omega of this style nor age.

    Best guess would be 40-60s. Subseconds and makers logo (Omega?) fixed through the hole above the central hours/min?
    Now you must let us see the front!!!!
