    Dear forum,
first I beg your pardon for my english, I'm a german.

I inherited an Omega Speedmaster Automatic, don't know anything from its past,
    no case and no papers.

Before this time I only knew that there are watches called OMEGA.
Now with this watch in my hand I researched intensive in the internet
for many days, many many hours and gathered many, many, many informations.

Here some information to my Speedmaster Automatic you can't see on the pictures:
Width of the case about 42mm, with crown 43mm, thickness near 16mm, lugs 20mm.
    Bracelet is 1479/812.

It's worn but it seems not very much, no scratches can I see.
It looks very nice and clear, but there seems to be one fault:
The 45 min marking has lost a part of the yellow colour.
I wouldn't have seen this if I didn't have read in internet that this
occured on some original dials of this model.

Compared with the pictures and informations given in the article of
Chuck Maddox "Speedmaster Automatic c.1045 in Detail"
    I am rather sure it's a c.1045 Speedmaster 376.0822.

But is it also a so-called "The Grail"?
The whole watch seems to be original.
The only thing that distinguish this watch from the description of Maddox
    is the bracelet.
My bracelet is marked 1479/812 but Maddox says 1450/809.
First question: Is the 1479/812 bracelet also possible as original equipment
    of the 376.0822?
Second question: Can I announce my watch as "The Grail",
    if not, why not?

Now I hope that someone can tell me what's right.
    Otti

    Wilkommen!

To my mind, a Grail watch is individual and unique to the owner. It is meant to be the one watch that you covet and when you get it, it is said you have found your Grail (like the Holy Grail).

So, only you can answer the question if this is a Grail watch to you - though I would say it is a lovely piece.
