This watch was my dads and has recently found it's way to me. It still works and keeps good time but that's about it. I would like to know if it's worth spending the money restoring it? What would be the cost and what would the restored value be?

get it serviced but not restored - surely even the sentimental value is in the honest “scars” of its life with your dad

The restored monetary value will certainly be worth the cost of the restoration. The sentimental value for me would be priceless.............

EDIT: With restoration I mean service the movement and replace the crystal, pushers and maybe crown. Don't have it polished. If it were mine I'd go hunting for a period-correct original bracelet too.

    Welcome to the Forum

Forgive us Roo.....some Members tend to be a bit spiky, when challenged to give an instant & unequivocal opinion

We tend to get more than a fair amount of ‘Drive by’ tourists who are out to make a fast buck with obviously ‘made up’ stories of legacy

The watch you have, needs some serious TLC

Google: SwissTimeServices.co.uk - They are experts at professional & sympathetically restoring vintage Omega

Ask their advice & guidance - they will tell you exactly what it will cost, to gently bring the watch back, to fighting form

Whatever it costs - You will not lose money on that investment …irrespective of the personal connection

Come back & let us know how you get on, please ?

    Thanks Roo
    +1 Everything that @ICONO says
In terms of a replacement bracelet, you can find them here in the OF Sales Forum from time to time. I’ve seen them range from £250-£400 with the correct endlinks.
Alternatively, these look good on a Rallye Strap.

Here’s photos of mine with and without the bracelet, the case is in original unrefurbished condition which I think is the way to go with these if you can.

@Roo, please see a link to an article about the Speedmaster MkII, which I found really useful, I hope you do too

@Roo, you asked in terms of value, it’s difficult to appraise yours without movement shots, more hi-res pictures. But if you were able to return yours to it’s former glory then:-

In a jewellers window you’d probably pay anything up to <£2500.
    eBay £1750-£2000
    Collector to Collector £1500-£1800

So hopefully that gives you a view of what it’s worth investing to bring it back.

Thanks ICONO. I'm not out to make anything on it, I just don't want to get ripped off.
