    Hello Omega lovers,
I recently found Omega collector and wanted to buy some watches from him but as I'm new in vintage watches I don't know if he wants to scam me or not. So here is my question : is it worth to buy these watches and how much should I pay for them?
    1. Omega De Ville 1964 cal 620 - 500$
    2. Omega Seamaster 1961 goldcap cal 552 - 860$
(it looks like 1965 gold plated for me)
    3. Omega Seamaster 1952 cal 285 - 470$
    4. Omega Seamaster 1974 cal 563 - 700$
    5. Omega De Ville 1986 cal quartz - 820$
    6. Omega De Ville 1986 cal quartz (date) - 820$

    Well........
We can go online and eBay check out these watches vs prices or you can do it yourself.
I vote for you doing your own homework, refining your choices and then asking questions..

I did try to find these exact watches but I failed. There are lots of similiar ones for me but I know that devil is in the details which as a newbie I can't really spot. I wouldn't ask if I could find them myself @gemini4

Since you have the caliber number, try searching on the Omega vintage database to find the reference number. Once you do that, you can search ebay's sold listings for value. Vintage Swiss Watches | OMEGA®

What people are saying is that posting a long list of watches and simply saying "should I buy these?" isn't really showing much effort on your part, nor is it helping us to help you.

Do you actually like any of these watches? There's quite a differing range of styles there. You'd do better to refine your search criteria, decide what you actually like and want to seek, and then ask more specific questions about one or two watches once you've done a bit of research yourself.

Most of these watches look like they are in good condition, but you always need to beware of redials as they can seriously take away from the value. Looking broadly they all seem a bit on the high side of value. If you are looking at chrono24 for benchmark market price be careful as it can generally be inflated. eBay or finding similar listing around the web can be a better source for price.

As a newbie myself to the vintage omega collecting community, I understand how overwhelming it can be to grasp the complexity and diversity of the watches. I do suggest continuing to follow omega forums, watch YouTube, and research in high detail the models you find and like. You will slowly learn the intricacies of the models and be able to spot some red flags.

I really enjoyed this thread and learned quite a bit...

Happy hunting. Post what you find in the future.

Right, don't take our opinions as gospel. Everyone will have a different idea of value. What's important is what YOU think. And whether you plan to keep these watches or sell them soonish.

One more thing, seems like you generally like thin dress watches with long elegant lugs. Go deep into the models you enjoy.

One personal tip. I try to avoid gold plated models; they are generally not as highly regarded as sold metals like steel or 18k gold and not nearly as collectible.

You will know they are solid and not plated by the stamping on the inside of the caseback, sometimes the seller will not be specific.

Generally, I tend to avoid quartz watches as well. Many watch geeks love the art and mechanisms of the movement that quartz just doesn’t have.

Hi @Czasoholik_ and welcome to the forum! My advice would be to slow down. :) The right vintage watch for you has been waiting decades for you to find it. No need to rush.

Before you think about parting with cash for a vintage watch, spend time reading this forum. Your goal is to learn what vintage watch collectors look for in an authentic vintage watch, as opposed to a watch that has been put together from parts (a "franken" watch) or has had the dial repainted (a "redial") or is an outright fake. Take some time to understand how a mechanical watch works and why most folks on this forum would encourage you to look for a mechanical watch instead of a quartz watch.

To get you started, take some time to read these threads:

Then take some time to review this thread to see what other collectors collect: https://omegaforums.net/threads/wruw-today.567/

Don't be afraid to ask questions about a watch or two that you are interested in. And welcome to the hobby!

If you are new to vintage watches, I suggest you start with one watch and live with it for a while to see how you like it. There's no need to jump in by buying six watches all at once, especially when they are all so similar in style.

If you are looking to buy a large number to start a business, then you need to buy them at much lower prices.
