    Hi guys,

slowly but steady, I'm in a fever of collecting old Speedys
You aren't completely innocent... thanks for that!

    I got an offer for a 145.022 - 69. serialnumber 3131XXXX
I could trade my Heuer Autavia with some money.
A small "problem" is the caseback: First, it's a caseback for a 105.003 - 65, second, it looks a bit too new to me.
Could it be a fake caseback? The seller/trader said, that it could be changed by time, when the watch was serviced...
I know the dial is not the best one (are the lumeplots are a no go for you?), and the case is polished, but somehow, I like the watch. :whistling:

What are your thoughts on this one? Thanks for your help!

That is money to you right? Not that you are trading the Autavia and also adding money? Obviously it would depend on the Autavia...

One consideration - if that caseback is genuine, and it does appear to match other -65 ones I've seen at least online, it's in amazingly good shape, and could be worth quite a bit on its own. It is definitely wrong for this watch regardless.

Seems like it is priced high

    http://speedmaster101.com/price-chart-2/

    3 - 4.5K USD

The seller wants around 5700 USD (I don't know what a bracelet is worth though)

Personally I'd pass. There seem to be much better pieces for sale probably right now on OF.

Bracelet is period correct but not heavily desirable it appears (as last one sold for 400 Euro)

So the seller is asking the equivalent of around 5200 for the head. For me, that would be a solid pass.

    Some recent sales

    thanks for your thoughts.
I try to negotiate a 1:1 deal. We will see...

By the way: Has someone a 145.022 - 69 caseback for me? ;)

I'd honestly wait - the -69 is a common reference, especially with the DNN bezel. The case is pretty heavily polished, the lume plots are badly flaking... But that case back could likely be sold to ease the cost some.

What model/year Autavia are you trading?

A 1:1 deal for what kind of Autavia though?

145.022-69 casebacks are out there and you may be able to buy one at some point. This watch is also in close range for a Straight Writing caseback, and replacements for those can be bought new for not much money while you wait.

No one can give you any advice as to the actual trade until we see pics of the Autavia.

My Autavia is a 1163V unpolished and all original.
But like rcs914 said, I think i‘ll wait for another one...

Steep price, but caseback is probably worth around 2500, and a period correct - 69 caseback is much less. Closer to 500.

So with that in mind, the price isn't that far off.

As to the watch itself, it's not bad but not great. The lume is spreading a bit, which a lot of people don't like and may irritate you after some time.

There are definitely better ones out there for similar money.

That's a very nice Viceroy, but it's not yet worth as much as a 145.022-69 so you'd still have to add some cash. It looks like a nice Viceroy is in the $3000-3500 range these days, while the Speedmaster would be closer to $5000 in good condition.

If you have a buyer for the 105.003 caseback at $2500, then you could buy at at the current ask and end up in decent shape, but you might end up sitting on that caseback for a while

:D It begins to change from 26th to 27th. Right, that looks really strange...
But it changes the date normal at 12.
