Best way to avoid fakes is the educate yourself:

    https://omegaforums.net/threads/learn-how-to-fish.52603/

If you have spotted one watch you like search the internet for the referrence number and compare the pictures, look at every detail (case, dial, hands, script...)

Be aware of sellers telling you about investment reasons for buying watches like this seller

Be aware of sellers including such boxes like the one form fine auction club

    That description!

“At the price of this watch I can't see anyone losing any money if they was to sell on in the near future. ”

“It's Automatic with Chronometer status so it is precise and- no battery will ever be needed. ”

“this watch type is purchased by gentleman who tend to purchase things that are discrete and very sophisticated. Basically a subtle way to show off the exquisiteness of good taste. ”

Regardless of the quality of the watch, I wouldn’t buy from this guy on general principle

“I hand polished this for a good hour and it looks in overall very good condition to me. “

Only an hour to ruin the case?? Impressive!

    His description reeks of bullshit!

And a price three times its value.

    No mention about the dial.

    "3. 100% genuine Omega"

"What sets this apart from other vintage Omega Seamsater's is the De Ville status and Red dial with crosshair. At the price of this watch I can't see anyone losing any money if they was to sell on in the near future. "

    Extreme rotor wear.

But I’m not piling on, am I? Ah, there’s the whistle.

Apart from the bullshit description, over the top prices and well polished merchandise the seller also seems to have a poor grasp of English grammar. The old phrase comes to mind: "I wouldn't touch it with yours".
